G.I. Joe Locust Helicopter 1990

Overview

The G.I. Joe Locust is a compact helicopter released by Hasbro in 1990 as part of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toy line. This blue reconnaissance and attack helicopter was designed to provide aerial support for G.I. Joe missions.

The Locust is particularly interesting because it was sold as a standalone vehicle and was also included with the General mobile command vehicle playset in 1990. The version supplied with the General was green, making it a useful variant for collectors to distinguish.

What Makes It Complete?

Check for the following components:

• Main helicopter body

• Cockpit canopy

• Main rotor blade

• Landing skid

• Bomb-bay door

• Side-mounted guns

• Two original heat-seeking, low-noise air-to-air missiles

• Original stickers and instructions, if available

Transformerland identifies two heat-seeking, low-noise air-to-air missiles as accessories for the Locust.

Recommended GIJoeForSale.com Price

For a clean, complete blue Locust with both original missiles, I would suggest an initial asking price of €29.95.

• Incomplete: €7.95–€14.95

• Good condition: €14.95–€22.95

• Very good, mostly complete: €22.95–€29.95

• Complete with both missiles: €29.95–€39.95

The green Locust from the General playset should be identified and priced separately.

Collector Appeal

The 1990 Locust is a good addition to a vintage G.I. Joe aircraft collection. Its blue color scheme, compact design and connection to the General playset make it appealing to collectors who want to complete the 1990 vehicle range. For resale, clearly identifying the blue standalone version versus the green playset version helps avoid confusion.
