The Mortar Launcher is a 1988 G.I. Joe Motorized Action Pack from the A Real American Hero line. It is a compact artillery weapon system designed to give G.I. Joe figures a mobile indirect-fire capability.

Like the other Motorized Action Packs, the Mortar Launcher uses a wind-up motor mechanism and can be attached to and carried by a G.I. Joe figure. It was released as part of the 1988 Action Pack range.

• The Mortar Launcher was one of the six Motorized Action Packs released in 1988.

• The other sets included the Mine Sweeper, Double Machine Gun, Twin Missile Radar, Cobra Machine Gun Nest and Dreadnok Battle Axe.

• Muskrat is associated with the package artwork, but the figure was not included with the Mortar Launcher.

• The Motorized Action Packs are an unusual part of the vintage G.I. Joe line because they combined wearable equipment with mechanical play features.

• Because of their small parts, complete examples can be surprisingly difficult to find.
