1990 G.I. Joe Sky SHARC – Sky Patrol

Overview

The Sky SHARC was released by Hasbro in 1990 as part of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Sky Patrol collection. It is a metallic-finish version of the original 1984 SHARC (Submersible, High-Speed, Attack, Reconnaissance Craft), redesigned with the distinctive reflective silver finish used across the Sky Patrol range.

This compact flying submarine combines an aquatic-inspired design with aerial attack capabilities. Its chrome-like finish, twin cannons and torpedo armament make it a distinctive collectible from the final years of the vintage G.I. Joe line.

The 1990 Sky SHARC was sold without an included action figure.

Fun Facts

• The Sky SHARC reuses the design of the original 1984 SHARC, but its metallic finish makes it visually distinct.

• Sky Patrol vehicles were given reflective finishes to create a coordinated futuristic appearance.

• The original SHARC was designed as an aquatic reconnaissance craft; the Sky Patrol version carries that design into the team's air-focused theme.

• The Sky SHARC was also released in the Netherlands and Belgium in 1991, where it was sold without a figure.

What Makes It Complete?

Check the following components before listing the Sky SHARC as complete:

• Main vehicle body

• Cockpit canopy

• Engine cover

• Radar fuselage component

• Twin cannons

• Rudders

• Original torpedoes

• Original stickers and instructions, if available

• Original packaging, if applicable

Inspect the metallic finish carefully for scratches, worn areas or peeling. The canopy, removable engine cover and small weapon components are also worth checking closely.

Collector Appeal

The 1990 Sky SHARC is an attractive addition to a vintage Sky Patrol collection. Its metallic finish, compact flying-submarine design and connection to the original 1984 SHARC make it a good choice for collectors who want both versions.

For GIJoeForSale.com, photograph the chrome-like finish, canopy, twin cannons, rudders and all torpedoes clearly. This helps buyers distinguish the 1990 Sky Patrol version from the original SHARC and assess its completeness.
