G.I. Joe Sky Patrol Sky HAVOC 1990

Overview

The Sky HAVOC (Heavy Articulated Vehicle Ordnance Carrier) was released in 1990 as part of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Sky Patrol collection. It is a special edition of the original 1986 H.A.V.O.C., redesigned with striking silver chrome-like finishes and Sky Patrol styling.

This heavily armed vehicle combines a tracked ground carrier with a detachable, fan-powered reconnaissance craft concealed inside its rear compartment. Its articulated chassis, forward guns and scout aircraft make it one of the most distinctive vehicles in the 1990 range.

The 1990 Sky HAVOC was sold without an included action figure. It is important not to confuse it with the original 1986 H.A.V.O.C., which was packaged with Cross-Country.

Fun Facts

• Sky HAVOC was based on the original 1986 H.A.V.O.C., but its metallic finish gave it a very different appearance.

• Sky Patrol vehicles featured a special reflective finish intended to fit the team's advanced aviation theme.

• The detachable scout craft is one of the most easily misplaced components.

• The European release appeared in the Netherlands and Belgium in 1991, despite the original US release being from 1990.

What Makes It Complete?

Check for the following original components:

• Main Sky HAVOC body

• Articulated track assemblies and wheels

• Both forward guns

• Mid-mounted gun station and its components

• Detachable scout craft

• Scout craft canopy and fan components

• Original missiles and launcher components

• Driver chair and other removable pieces

• Original stickers and instructions, if available

The scout craft is particularly important when assessing completeness. Inspect the chrome-like finish for scratches, peeling or worn areas, as cosmetic condition can have a major impact on collector appeal.

Recommended GIJoeForSale.com Price

For a clean, complete Sky HAVOC with its original scout craft and weapons, I would suggest an initial asking price of €119.95, subject to condition.

• Incomplete: €24.95–€39.95

• Good condition: €44.95–€69.95

• Very good, mostly complete: €74.95–€99.95

• Complete with scout craft and accessories: €109.95–€139.95

• Excellent complete example: €139.95–€174.95

A boxed example should be priced separately according to the box condition and whether the contents are complete, unused or still sealed.

Collector Appeal

Sky HAVOC is an appealing centrepiece for a vintage Sky Patrol collection. Its metallic finish, large tracked chassis and concealed reconnaissance craft distinguish it from the original 1986 H.A.V.O.C.

For GIJoeForSale.com, photograph the vehicle from several angles, including the scout craft removed from its compartment. Close-ups of the metallic finish, tracks, weapons and included missiles will help buyers judge its condition and completeness.
