The Night Scrambler was released in 1989 as a Toys "R" Us exclusive as part of the Night Force sub-team. It is a black-and-red repaint of the classic 1983 G.I. Joe APC (Armored Personnel Carrier), redesigned for covert nighttime operations. Like the other Night Force vehicles, it did not include an action figure, allowing collectors to crew it with their favorite Night Force members.
