The Skystorm X-Wing Chopper was released in 1988 as part of the vintage G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line. It was one of the most futuristic aircraft designs of the 1988 lineup and originally came packaged with the pilot Windmill.

The Skystorm was inspired by the real-world Sikorsky X-Wing concept, an experimental aircraft concept that combined features of a conventional airplane and helicopter.
